Post Secondary Education Opportunities
Speaker Diana M. Katovitch M. S. During almost 30 years in the special education field, Diana M. Katovitch has been frustrated when her students do not reach their potential as adults. In her new book The Power to Spring Up, she makes it clear that education and learning after high school are both possible and beneficial for students with disabilities to give them better job opportunities and more fulfilling lives.
The goal of this conference is to inspire families, giving them a renewed hope in their child’s future and the possibilities for their child to continue learning and gaining independence into adulthood.
Learn how to make transition happen effectively. We will take what Diana Katovitch has learned, discuss the benefits of various program options, cover Ohio’s implementation of transition, and the nitty-gritty to prepare students.
Diana M. Katovitch is the author of The Power to Spring Up: Post secondary Education Opportunities for Students with Significant Disabilities (Woodbine House Publishing, 2009). Mrs. Katovitch holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Syracuse University (1990) and a Master of Science in Reading Education from the State University of New York at Cortland (1995). She has almost thirty years of experience working with students with students with learning and developmental disabilities in a variety of settings. She has been a full time classroom teacher of students with disabilities since 1990.
Mrs. Katovitch currently works as a special education teacher for Waterloo Central School District in Waterloo, New York. She resides with her family in Union Springs, New York.
This conference is not disability specific. It is designed to meet the needs of parents, family members, regular education teachers, special education teachers, principals, administrators, paraprofessionals, service providers, and others who represent the interests of children with special education needs and their families.
A provider resource fair is being offered in the same location.
